Wimbledon – The Championships [England]

When you visit England, you can get an in-person feel for the “fickle weather” we hear so much during the 2 weeks of Wimbledon 🙂

There is an old-World charm to the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club. Not sure if there is an easier way, but in my case, there was a 15-20min walk to the grounds from the Southfields Tube Station. I took the guided tour through the grounds. They took us through the various courts, including the famed Center Court (Boris Becker, Stefan Edberg, Pete Sampras, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic … To think of the greats that have played on the court), the Press Room Etc.

I wanted to guy some souvenirs from the gift shop, but boy, was it expensive! I felt it was a rip-off and did not buy any.

Obviously, during The Championship, this area would be heavily crowded … But on an off-day …

Well-labelled … Easy to explore.

If I were here on July 1st, 2001 … When Roger Federer upset the 4-time defending champion Pete Sampras.
