Manila, the Pearl of the Orient … [Philippines]

When I was in Manila, it rained non-stop during the evenings … So, all my exploring was only during the day-time. Wherever I looked, there were the unique Jeepneys. Each Jeepney has its own “personality”, in terms of colors and the extra fittings. One could see the Colonial architecture all around. And souvenirs … Wow! I went to town buying bags and bags of souvenirs.

Being a little careful in what I eat (I typically refrain from fried food, sodas, red meats Etc.), I must say the cuisine was a bit disappointing … Also, I like some heat (Spice!) in my food. I did try most of the dishes though.

I had fun discussing Basketball (NBA, for E.g.) and Manny Pacquiao with my local colleagues. I could sense that there were a lot of sports fans around.

National Museum of Philippines … For some reason, there were very few people. Fine for me, as I could explore without much trouble.

I absolutely loved these artwork made on Coconut shells … Would have loved to buy a few, if only they were on sale.

Jose Rizal Museum … @Fort Santiago. It was depressing to read about his life, his efforts and finally, his execution. A great man … Sniff 🙁

Laguna de Bay … From close quarters, the lake looked pretty polluted. Not a huge surprise considering that Manila is a heavily populated city.
